Welcome to 2025 Camping season

The site has been open for a couple of months now and has already been well utilised for Weekend, and longer, camps. As I write this the Beavers’ and Scouts’ District camps have taken place, with mixed weather. A number of Groups have held some good weekend camps in the glorious Spring weather. The Site is looking particularly smart with well groomed camping areas and all the trees and shrubs particularly vibrant.

Over the Winter closure a great deal of work has been carried out by the Pinsent Team, with help from some outside contractors. The main addition to the site is the installation of some Solar Panels on the convenient roof on the New Barn. We are now getting the benefit of the sunny, producing most of our electricity requirements. We are still  awaiting an account which will pay us for excess electricity being fed back into the Grid.

Another large undertaking was carried out by our Tree Surgeons, taking out a large amount of dead and suspicious limbs from a number of trees on site. These were identified by the Survey we had carried out last year, with quite a lot more. This meant a lot of cutting up and splitting of logs by the Team. From past experience, it won’t take long for these to be burned. Please think of us when you are overloading the fires!!

The fitting out of the Activities Barn has been moving along a pace with a lot of time being spent on the Bouldering Wall as well as putting the finishing touches to the Archery and Rifle ranges. The Tomahawk throwing range has also been refurbished and is now much improved. Two Disabled Parking bays have been installed along with a concrete ramp down to the Barn.

There was a problem with leaking in the roof of the Girls’ toilets which has had to have some remedial work carried out.

All this while carrying out the general maintenance which always needs to be done.

Please note the entrance to the Campfire Circle. We are trying to form a Willow arch to add some character. It seems to be working.

The site is very well booked for Weekends and Summer Camps right through to the end of September so if you haven’t booked as yet, it may prove difficult. Always ask if you can’t find what you are looking for.

If you would like to get involved in maintaining the site please get in touch, it would be good to see you. campsitemanager@winscouts.org

Chris is also looking for more volunteers to help with the Activities, full training will be given. activitymanager@winscouts.org
