Latest News from Pinsent

Well, another camping season is drawing to a close. Except for those hardy souls who are booked in right up to December.

It is has been great to see the site being used by so many Young People and Leaders.

The number of Sections using the site during the evenings has surpassed that from pre-lockdown days. As usual the main occupation has been firelighting.

A larger number than usual of local Groups have been camping at weekends with a number of camps arranged for Leaders to gain their Nights Away Permits, well done.

The biggest increase has been in the number of Groups from outside the District camping at the site, many for the first time. A total of 42 camps from weekend to full weeks.

Even with the drought over the Summer the Site has been in first class condition and there have been many positive comments, much to the credit of the Pinsent Team who have worked hard to make sure all is well.

During the Summer the car park has had a make-over. Firelighting Area 1 has been reconfigured and is now much larger. The woodpile has been re-organised and is well stocked with split logs and pallets.

The Activities Team have been working overtime to keep up with demand for both evening and daytime usage. The Activity Team is on the lookout for people to get involved in providing the activities so if you feel that you could help, please get in touch with Chris, the Activities Manager and he can give you all the details.

For those of you who remember them, we are looking to re-instate the Working Weekends in the Spring next year. For those who are new to the District it is a weekend where we ask for volunteers to spend a little time at site carrying out some of the larger jobs which we are unable to complete with the small number of the Team. Details will be sent out to the GSLs early next year. If you don’t hear anything, let us know.

Please note: the Site will be closed during January and February as usual
