3rd Winchester Cubs went on an incredible adventure to Brownsea Island in June 2025.
Travelling by train and ferry, then hiking to the site of Baden Powell’s experimental camp in 1907.  This was a lightweight camp, a first experience for the Cubs, including ration pack dinners.
The weekend involved lots of hikes exploring the natural delights of Brownsea Island, including a fair few sights of red squirrels, ducklings and peacocks. They designed and made various pioneering projects using the sticks they found while hiking, including a working zip line for their Squirrel Mascot, Kudu. We were excited to see our Group necker hanging in pride of place over the doorway of the Outpost.
We met some other scouts from Essex, the Czech Republic and America!
